Beauty Sleep is not a Myth

The purpose of sleep has been studied by scientists for decades. Although we still don’t know everything that goes on at night, it’s clear that sleep – particularly non-REM sleep – is a time for our skin to repair and rejuvenate itself. In fact, research shows that skin cell regeneration almost doubles at night, peaking between 11p.m.and 4a.m., meaning sleeping beauty must of been a Knockout! Too bad sleep is elusive for so many of us. 60% of women say they don’t get enough sleep,* and over one-third of Americans sleep 2.5 hours less per night than we did a century ago.** So, what are we missing when we fail to catch our Z’s? More than you might imagine. Sleep deprivation doesn’t simply impair the normal process of healing in our skin. It also increases our stress level, which can further limit our sleep. The resulting chronic sleep deprivation has been linked to inflammation and oxidative stress. And you know what oxidative stress is linked to? Aging signs. Talk about a vic...

Giving Good Face, why does the face age? Premature Aging,The Problem might be in the palm of your hand! By:Oscar Jose Molinar III The first thing to realize is we are all "aging" from the moment we are born, and so the signs of aging are just part of a natural process. Age affects every nook and cranny of the body. Along with the wisdom, experience, and accomplishments that come with getting older, there are changes that occur in our outward appearance. Changes in our faces are most at the forefront. Dozens of changes take place as the years add up, some of them obvious and familiar: Foreheads expand as hairlines retreat (I am a perfect example of this). Ears often get a bit longer because the cartilage in them grows Tips of noses may droop because connective tissue supporting nasal cartilage weakens There are also structural rearrangements going on behind the scenes. When we’re young, fat in the face is evenly distributed, with some pockets her...

the last weeks of winter, reek the most havoc on your skin

The last weeks of the season is synonymous with cold, dry and dusty wind. The signature of this period is dry air which tends to dry out the skin, makes it flaky, extremely dry/sucking the moisture out of it. So during this time of the  season its not unusual to see people's skin turned whitish, lack lustre and plain dull, the trick usually is to load on more moisture, actually a little more than on usual days during this time so this way the skin retains moisture 1) Avoid using antiseptic soaps during this weather opt more for cream bars  Use antiseptic soaps only when you have a skin infection it is meant to treat the skin not necessarily for everyday use.. 2) Wear a good body moisturizer everyday.  To make sure the skin retains moisture during this period invest in a good moisturizer, one that deeply moisturizes as well as locks in this added moisture preventing the skin from drying out. Use a cream preferably this season as against body lotion (3) Avoid usin...
